dental work 3 years 8 months ago #50

Hi
From personal experience
on ascent from 14 m chamber dive experienced molar tooth fracture in tooth c old inlay
asymptomatic and never an issue at dental visits previously

some possible decay in base of dental cement on subsequent dental visit found..

new inlay nil issues
back to HBOT few days later

I do tend to explain to dentist re potential risk of dental barotrauma and avoidance of gas bubbles etc..just to be on safe side...

Spums article a few years back on dental cement tensile strength for implants but not specific on dental work per se
Thanks Stephan Roehr SMO TVUH HMU

Thank you for your replies so far,

We have not had any dental problems thus far, I have just been reviewing or policies and was wondering what the evidence behind this particular one was...seems not really much.

We have said 24 hours for general work and 72 hours post major work or once pain has settled (which ever is longer) to be conservative.

My main concern was air entrapment also Christian and Rohan..but sounds like it is rare and I guess you would potentially feel the pressure building in a sinus before it was a major issue but not so much teeth decay?

I guess I should look into building into guidelines of attendants that they have regular dental checks and seek advice if they feel they might have a hole/ache before going in.

Interesting Stephen...do you have that article still?

Loving the discussion!
